A recent video shared on social media showed a violent encounter between a Walmart shopper and security guard after the man tried to enter the store without a mask. Walmart instituted a mandatory mask policy on April 17, requiring all customers to wear masks at its stores regardless of the rules in individual states. The policy was made using the guidance of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Walmart’s chief medical officer, and state and local health officials, and will remain in place through at least the end of the month. But the Florida shopper tried to enter the store without a mask, prompting a Walmart security guard to remind him of the rule and try to deny him entry. The shopper shoved the security guard multiple times and ignored requests by several employees for him to leave the store. The encounter came amid a rash of violence at stores over mask requirements.
